As a matter of fact, it should be fast-tracked. Most of these people sit in prison for far too long milking our tax dollars for food and living, if proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, next Friday is your day. We are only moving further and further away from wrongly convicting people with new technology and techniques of investigating. So while you may see it happen sometimes, the majority of these death penalty cases are proven before cast. I might be able to agree with an anti-death penalty person if their reasoning is that these people should never see the light of day again, stopping them from reentering society to recommit these crimes. It is the Utopian attitude that we can rehabilitate criminals and murders and set them free in the burbs and feel like we can trust they are safe that really bothers me...it is a disconnect from reality.
