Fundraiser

Y Gen Out Loud seeks quality sales people to help with its fundraising efforts. We are raising money to support the daily operations of Y Gen’s newsroom as well as implement programs associated with our mission.

We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic go-getters. You may not have actual fundraising experience, but you are a self-starter who is motivated and goal-oriented. You relish a challenge, and aren’t afraid to reach out to potential donors. Rejection doesn’t get you down; it emboldens you. You meet deadlines, and can communicate effectively with potential donors as well as board members.

Internships

Technology reporting intern

Y Gen Out Loud is seeking a technology reporter for the 2009-2010 school year.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the computer, software, Internet, telecommunications and personal technology sectors. As a multimedia organization, we tell stories in a variety of formats, from articles to videos to slideshows to podcasts. Any experience in writing/creating stories in these formats is a plus.

This internship requires at least a 10-hour per week commitment. It is unpaid, but we will work with you to obtain academic credit.

News writing intern

Y Gen Out Loud is looking for one or more news writing interns for the 2009-2010 school year.

Requirements:

  • Good writing and communication skills
  • Interest in current national events

  • Good research and interview skills
  • Ability to write on deadline
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adherence to journalistic ethics
  • Self-starter who is proactive and creative
  • Hard-worker who is motivated, enthusiastic, and reliable

Multimedia/Broadcast reporting intern

Y Gen Out Loud is currently seeking one or more multimedia/broadcast interns for the 2009-2010 school year. Your primary focus will be on producing videos for our new feature, Y Gen TV. Projects may also include writing, slide shows, or audio.

Social media/Internet marketing intern

Y Gen Out Loud is currently seeking one or more interns for the 2009-2010 school year who can create and maintain FaceBook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Bebo, Digg accounts and other social media sites as well as generate buzz and interest in our news site through participation in dialogue on message boards, forums, and other online interactive channels.

A passion for new media and an understanding of social media tools and viral, word of mouth, and grass roots Internet marketing practices is a must. Successful candidates must be fast-learners with strong writing and research skills and the ability to work independently.

This internship is designed to provide you with real-world experience. There are no unrelated clerical, administrative, or other duties.
